Events
- Ceremony/Procession which this year, in a break with tradition, went anti-clockwise around the field
- following the string for a tour around the sculpture garden
- crossing the Shepton Suspension Bridge (I did not actually measure it but I remember that the towers rose around a dizzying 4 feet above the ground, the span being roughly an ambitious 9 feet, and the road-bed being suspended a breathtaking zero feet above the ground), with a select few being carried across by sedan chair
- visit to the spring with optional dipping of toes in the water
- at the top of the field passing through the Temple of Chaos (where making a lot of noise was not only allowed but encouraged - and there was a by-pass for those who did not wish to partake of the experience)
- beneath the ash tree, where there was a good supply of rugs (to sit on): the Temple of Mo (where "mo" was diligently chanted - a bit like om, only backwards)
- a journey to the centre of the Labyrinth, where there was mutual feeding of Maltesers using straws and blue-tac
- to the the top fire for refreshments, including flapjacks and pretzels, and entertainment, including fire poi
- Cabaret

Pinhole photography
Rachel Cornish, a practicing artist in the South West of England has
been running workshops in pinhole photography. The whole process
involved making cameras to developing the prints. Using only the field,
a darkroom was made from hazel poles, tarpauline and rope. Many
beautiful photos were produced by the community, culminating in an
exhibition, 'Pinhole in the Whale 2004.' (www.rachelcornish.co.uk)
